Greek Translation Services for Documents

Translate manuals, catalogs, contracts and websites into Greek, with your terminology and formatting intact.

Markets: Greece, Cyprus

Who needs Greek translation

Greek is spoken by about 13 million people and is the official language of Greece and Cyprus, both members of the European Union. Greece uses the euro, and Cyprus does as well.

For an exporter, that means an EU market with EU product rules. Instructions, labels and safety information generally need to be available in the official language of the country where the product is sold. A manual in English alone may not meet that expectation, and Greek buyers, like most, trust a product more when it speaks their language.

Typical documents

  • User manuals and installation guides
  • Product catalogs and data sheets
  • Safety data sheets and compliance documents
  • Contracts, terms and conditions, and tenders
  • Packaging and labels
  • Websites and software strings

Taia keeps the layout of Word, PowerPoint and spreadsheet files (and InDesign on Pro), so the Greek file arrives looking like the original.

Where Greek translation goes wrong

The alphabet. Greek has its own script, so fonts, PDFs and software must support it. A font without Greek glyphs shows empty boxes or falls back to a mismatched typeface, and files that are not saved as UTF-8 can turn into unreadable characters. Always open the final file where your customers will.

Punctuation that looks wrong. The Greek question mark looks like a semicolon (;). A translator or a script that treats it as a semicolon will “fix” it, and the sentence stops being a question. Keep this in mind when you review output and when you clean up files.

Accents. Modern Greek uses the monotonic system: one accent mark on stressed vowels. A missing or misplaced accent is a spelling error, and it can change a word. Uppercase is a trap too. In capital letters, Greek normally drops the accent, so headings and labels set in all caps are written differently from the lowercase source. If your design uses uppercase, ask for the text with that in mind.

Text expansion. Greek usually runs longer than English. Buttons, table headers, labels and packaging need room, so check the layout of the final file, not only the words.

Brand and product names. Decide in advance whether a name stays in Latin letters, is transliterated into Greek, or appears both ways. Put the decision in the glossary so every document follows it.

How Taia handles Greek

Upload your file (Taia reads 65+ formats on Pro), choose Greek, and AI translation returns the file in minutes with the formatting in place. Customer content is never used to train AI models.

Consistency comes from three tools. A glossary fixes how your terms and names are handled. A style guide sets tone and address. Translation memory stores approved segments so related documents match. Glossary, style guide and translation memory are on Pro and Enterprise. Translation memory does not make AI translation cheaper. It keeps wording consistent, and on professional per-word work, matches are discounted.

When a document needs a human, someone on your own team can review it in Translation Studio on Pro, or you can order professional translation from a native Greek linguist.

Three ways to translate into Greek

Pick one per document, or combine them. On Pro and Enterprise, the same glossary and translation memory sit behind all three, so your approved terms carry over whoever finishes the text.

AI translation

A formatted first draft in minutes, for internal documents or as the starting point for a reviewer. AI translation is part of a Taia subscription; see pricing for what each plan includes.

Your own team, in Translation Studio

If a colleague, a subsidiary or a distributor reads Greek, invite them to your organization and assign them a task on the AI draft. They review it segment by segment in the Translation Editor, with translation memory matches, glossary terms and your style guide beside each sentence, then submit and deliver it. Translation Studio is on Pro and Enterprise.

Professional translation by Taia's linguists

When a contract, a safety sheet or a label has to be right and nobody on your team has the time or the language, order it from the same project. There are three levels:

Essential

from $0.07/word

AI translation post-edited by one professional linguist.

Enhanced

from $0.10/word

A translator and a reviser. This workflow follows ISO 17100.

Ultimate

from $0.14/word

Translation, Editing and Proofreading (TEP). This workflow follows ISO 17100.

Professional prices are list prices across languages. The exact price for Greek and your file appears on the instant quote when you upload it.

Greek translation turnaround

AI translation takes minutes, whatever the length of the file. When your own team reviews in Translation Studio, you can set a deadline on the task. For professional translation, the delivery date is shown on your instant quote before you order, so you know it before you commit.

Greek translation: frequently asked questions

How do I translate a document into Greek?

Upload your file to Taia, choose Greek as the target language, and the AI translation returns in minutes with the original formatting and Greek script in place. Taia reads 65+ file formats on Pro. To have it checked, assign the review to someone on your team in Translation Studio (Pro), or order professional translation from the same project.

Do you translate into Greek for both Greece and Cyprus?

Greek is an official language in both countries, and the written standard is the same for business documents. Spelling, grammar and the monotonic accent system are shared. Tell your linguist which market the text is for, and on Pro, put any local terms or product names in a glossary so they are applied consistently.

Will Greek characters display correctly in my PDF or software?

They will if the font and encoding support Greek. Use fonts that include the Greek alphabet and UTF-8 in software. Taia keeps your file's formatting, but a font that lacks Greek glyphs will show boxes or substitutes. Check the final file in the program your customers will use.

Is AI translation good enough for Greek?

It is a useful first pass for internal documents and drafts. For contracts, labels, safety information and published copy, order professional translation from a native Greek linguist. If someone on your team or at your distributor in Greece or Cyprus reads Greek, they can review the draft in Translation Studio (Pro). All three work in the same project.

How do I keep Greek terminology consistent?

Add your approved terms, including how product and brand names are handled, to a Taia glossary. Set tone and address in a style guide. Translation memory stores approved segments so later documents match. Glossary, style guide and translation memory are on Pro and Enterprise. This keeps wording consistent across manuals, catalogs and the website.
